FEATURED WORK

RUN RIOT REEL

AMAZON | PHANTOM RANCH

Phantom Ranch is located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, about nine miles down from the South Rim. There are no roads to Phantom Ranch so the only way to get daily supplies to the employees and guests is with the Grand Canyon Mule team. When Amazon approached us to document the journey of their packages to this extremely remote location we knew it would be a tough but rewarding shoot. Thanks to our incredibly talented cinematographer Pablo Durana, who hiked 18 miles round trip with 50 lbs of camera gear on his back in one day, we were able to capture the scale of just how massive this Grand Canyon journey is. The final video performed very well for Amazon, gaining national and local attention in the press and social media. View the Deliveries Around the World series here.

L’OREAL USA | FOR WOMEN IN SCIENCE

Every year, we look forward to working with L’Oréal to celebrate the most impressive, trailblazing scientists in the country (who just so happen to be women). L’Oréal’s For Women in Science fellowship program awards five postdoctoral scientists annually with grants of $60,000 each for their contributions to STEM innovation and their commitment to mentoring the next generation.

As the full service creative agency for the video portion of their campaign, we get to travel across the U.S. each summer to capture the lives of these incredible scientists, promote their cutting edge work and be inspired by their dogged pursuit of discovery. We often leave the shoots wondering whether our contribution to society is enough. And that’s a good thing. The videos introduce each scientist at the annual awards gala, live on the FWIS website and on L’Oréal’s YouTube page. See all of the inspirational women here.

DIAMOND BACK | LET’S RIDE WITH BILL NYE

Cast and crew of 25, multiple locations in Central Park and a studio in Brooklyn, five videos to produce, one day. This ask from Diamond Back was a tall order and huge logistical challenge, thankfully we had the consummate professional in Bill Nye signed on for the project. Bill’s ability to nail the script quickly, many times in one or two takes, allowed us to move efficiently through the shot list and keep the energy up for the long production day. We came away with five fun videos which celebrated Bill’s personality and Diamond Back’s unique designs. The series performed well for Diamond Back across their websites and social media channels.

TALK TO ME | SIR RICHARD BRANSON

We have been lucky to work with a number of high profile talent over the years and these shoots can bring a lot of pressure. Something that we have learned to navigate. But from the moment we stepped onto Necker Island in the BVIs, Sir Richard Branson made us feel at home. Documenting the conversation between father and son, hearing the inspirational stories of adventure, business and family, all set in this amazing location made the shoot one for the books. Huffington Post brought on Run Riot to produce, shoot and edit a series of seven conversations between industry leaders and their children.

DELTA | NON-STOP SCOUTING

Collaborating with friends is one of our favorite pastimes. For The Seattle Sounders and Delta Air Lines, we teamed up with Emmy-nominated filmmaker/explorer/tv host and friend, J.J. Kelley, to produce a three-part docu-series about the intersection of travel, culture and the beloved game of soccer. Run Riot post produced and edited the series that J.J. directed in Japan, South Korea and Iceland. Delta and the Sounders promoted the series on their social media channels. The icing on the project’s cake was Seattle taking home the 2019 MLS Cup.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC | THE ROAD TO THE ARK - FEATURING NAT GEO PHOTOGRAPHER JOEL SARTORE

Any old excuse will do for nudging Josie Swantek back home to ‘the good life’ in Nebraska, even making a short doc about the work of award-winning photographer, conservationist, 2018 National Geographic Explorer of the Year, friend and fellow Nebraskan, Joel Sartore. Brought to the project by The National Geographic Society, Run Riot researched, developed, directed and edited the short film spanning the whole of Joel Sartore’s career and celebrating The Photo Ark, his groundbreaking portrait series aimed at capturing every animal species in human care in the world (currently 33,421 images) in an effort to get people to care before they disappear. The short film premiered at the opening of Joel’s Photo Ark Exhibit at The Annenberg Space for Photography, accompanied the exhibit throughout its run, won the audience award for Best Short Film at the EarthX Film Festival and is used to continually promote Joel’s work.

HUFFINGTON POST | STORM THE GATES

We think our friends at Good Fight Media are some of the best storytellers in town, and we were honored when they invited us to co-produce Huffington Post’s very first feature film. Co-directed by Josie Swantek Heitz, Daniele Anastasion and Catherine Yrisarri, the film follows three women who run for office for the first time in their lives in the wake of the 2016 presidential election. Keeping stride with the candidates on the campaign trail wasn’t easy, but capturing their historic fight was a privilege.

The film is currently featured on HuffPost’s Roku channel.
